Arvigo Therapy® and the Nervous System: Encouraging Calm
Our nervous systems are often in a constant state of activation — managing responsibilities, responding to stress, multitasking and processing an overload of information, emotions and constant stimulation. This ongoing pressure can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, inability to make good decisons or simply out of sync with ourselves.
While many practices aim to soothe the nervous system, Arvigo Therapy® offers a unique and gentle approach rooted in touch, breath, and abdominal awareness. Brining you back to your core, with a new freedom of breath.
The Nervous System and the Gut
The nervous system is made up of two main branches: the sympathetic (often referred to as “fight or flight”) and the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”). When we experience stress, the body prioritises survival — heart rate increases, digestion slows, and tension can build up in various areas, particularly around the abdomen and diaphragm. Often many people don’t notice until the pain is in the neck and shoulders or an unbearable pain in the butt- also known as sciatic nerve pain or worse.
Interestingly, the gut is often called our “second brain” because of its complex network of nerves and its direct connection to the brain via the vagus nerve. When we support the abdomen through gentle bodywork, we may be helping to stimulate the parasympathetic response — inviting the body to settle and shift toward a state of rest and repair.
Arvigo Therapy® as a Gentle Invitation
Cupping is known for its wide-ranging benefits, particularly in Traditional Chinese Medicine Arvigo Therapy® is a soft, external abdominal massage rooted in Maya healing traditions. By working over the abdomen and lower back, this modality encourages awareness, breath, and presence. Sessions are conducted with respect for the body’s rhythm and individual needs, offering a space for deep exhale — both physically and emotionally.
While we cannot make any guarantees or claims about outcomes, many people find the experience grounding and soothing. Practitioners are trained to hold space in a way that honours the mind-body connection, allowing you to return to yourself in a safe and supported way.
Creating Space to Reconnect
The nervous system thrives on safety, consistency, and gentle cues to relax. Whether it’s through Arvigo Therapy®, mindful breathing, or creating a quiet moment in your day, small rituals can help the body return to a place of calm. These moments don’t need to be grand — often, it’s the simplest forms of care that hold the most power.
